Hi, and welcome to this episode of Sassin Sips. Today we're gonna talk about the show Reunion Season 1, Episode 1992. I'm one of your hosts, I'm Lisa, and I am sipping on the red wine because I finally found the corkscrew. Woohoo! All it took was opening up a different drawer. Another drawer. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I'm Agnes, and I'm drinking my new favorite, my blueberry lavender cappuccino. With Kahlua, of course, you know. Of course. Kahlua, you know. I own stock and Kahlua at this point. Um, so we did you did say that the episode is titled 1992. I like to call it the episode full of plot twist.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. This is aka plot twist. Uh-huh. This is the story of six friends who spend Thanksgiving together and one by one alienate people outside of their group. That's what this episode was.
SPEAKER_03But there was a lot of other plot. You're like, wait, wait, what? Say a word.
SPEAKER_00I know. And I don't know if this is the show being cheeky, but I feel like there's so many things that I'm like, wait a minute. That is very familiar. That is very, that is very familiar.
SPEAKER_04Very familiar.
SPEAKER_00So I was like, okay, this episode was definitely more meaty than the previous ones.
SPEAKER_03I enjoyed it immensely. And the I the meatier it gets each episode, I become sadder. Because I'm convinced that I'm not going to get close at the end of the 13th episode. Because I already know this is getting too good. This is actually, yeah, this, this, I'm going to be screwed. I'm going to be very upset and sad.
SPEAKER_00I had thoughts. In previous episode, I know I mentioned that the detective and Jenna seemed familiar to each other. And in this episode, we'd get some of his backstory. And so now I'm like, okay, you know what? That's not so far-fetched. Also, it struck me that before we knew who was dead, when he talked to Craig, my God, if they were currently married, because I remember thinking when she did the when she made the tape, and they're like, oh, Dr. Brewster. And I'm like, oh, they made they made a point of saying Dr. Brewster. She has Craig's last name. Now we know that they were married, but but I'm like, oh, so they must have said that to make a point. But then why never say your wife is dead? If his wife died like last week, here he is swimming in a pool like nothing. I mean, it's not your wife, your your widower now, your son's m- I don't know. It just It struck me that that wasn't a part of any of the narrative. That if they were so married, why isn't it like this is your wife?
SPEAKER_03Even if they were estranged or separated or even divorced, that's still the you know, a woman you were at least married to, at the very least.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_03That did not go unnoticed. The whole swimming in the pool, I was like, I'm like, okay, then after he couldn't, you know, get out, I'm like, oh, okay, maybe it's therapy.
SPEAKER_00No, that's true. That is true.
SPEAKER_03That was think, okay, probably it's therapy. But we're gonna leave.
SPEAKER_00I did um a lot of exercises in the pool. Because of you know, buoyancy and everything, it it it was much, much easier and safer for me to do my exercises in the pool.
SPEAKER_03Also, even though doing the interview with Craig before Craig told him the truth, yes, he had a hard on for Will, but he kind of has a hold on for the whole group, to be fair. The whole group, yeah. Right. His hard on was really like was aimed towards Will, but the whole group could get it. So I like so I'm thinking he just doesn't. There's no sense of, I don't care. Fuck you, fuck your feelings, fuck your wife, fuck all of this. She's dead. I'm gonna use the fact that she was murdered to give back all you mofos. I think he was really giving me off some of that vibe.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I had two other thoughts. Are you ready?
SPEAKER_03No. I'm just joking.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_00One was that I remember thinking the way Sam said on the tape that this is when Jenna learned that death could be comforting or something like that. And I was like, oh my god, did Jenna commit suicide? What if Sam committed suicide? What if that was the whole reason she was so concerned that everyone would get a copy of that tape? Because that was her suicide note.
SPEAKER_03Ah, that's a good one. I like that. Of all the crazy Lisa theories, you know what the funny thing is?
SPEAKER_00They're not that crazy. They're not like that crazy. The cat and the coffee table, yeah.
SPEAKER_03But was that really crazy though? Let's be real. That's a pretty damn good one. I mean, we've gone from one show where the crazier the theory was most it was most likely to so like it's weird to like shift. What's the other thought?
SPEAKER_00My other thought is that we have been thinking that her daughter Amy could have been involved somehow. Right. And they found blood in the loft and they assume that it's the killers. They take blood from Will and they rule him out. Now, if Amy was Will's daughter, wouldn't they have picked up on a familial match? A familial match. Like, wait a minute, this is not hit, but some of the markers hit.
SPEAKER_03That leads me to my theory.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes, I love it.
SPEAKER_03I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so I realized that I'm sitting here half dressed, and we can't now publish. Maybe we can, I don't know.
SPEAKER_03I mean, you covered enough.
SPEAKER_00I've covered enough.
SPEAKER_03It's like a bikini. I've seen bikinis with laughing material.
SPEAKER_00Actually, that that is true. Okay.
SPEAKER_03It's hot.
SPEAKER_00Like I was cold and now I'm hot. Sorry.
SPEAKER_03I'm laughing because you're all kind of hot right now. Like if you could see this woman's woo, it's pretty nice. Okay. Thank you. Well, you're welcome. Okay, so the letters. I know who killed her.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03Well, what if it's Henry?
SPEAKER_00Okay, I was thinking that it would have that it might have been the detective. The detective have written down. Like, maybe fucking with them to, you know, to rattle them.
SPEAKER_03That was my first thought too. But then like, no, it's Henry.
SPEAKER_00Because they brought him up in this episode a bunch. I mean, in the in the in the past, it was like, oh, he's a baby, he's sleeping. But in the present, it's like Henry turn down the music, but you don't see him.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. Maybe he wasn't there to begin with. He just turned the music off so they think he was in the room, so his dad would think he was in the room.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that is so good. I really like that theory. Right, thank you. Why just I'll be wrong if it was actually the cat.
SPEAKER_00Um Did anybody get a good look at the coffee table? Was it made out of glass? Because there's no stairs in the loft, so we gotta rework that theory to make it. Where was she killed at? In the loft.
SPEAKER_05She was killed in the loft?
SPEAKER_00With the Because remember they they say you were all at the loft that night. And Craig seems to still be living there.
SPEAKER_03Like it's nothing.
SPEAKER_00So I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Interesting. That's just weird. Okay. I'm surprised. But okay, then that came I didn't think it was the loft because by it being the same thing. Yeah, he says that they got the time.
SPEAKER_00They got them all on video, uh, cut, you know, at the loft. And that's what they were like, but it was the reunion. Of course we were all there.
SPEAKER_03I remember that, but I just thought they were just the last time they were, they were just there together. I didn't think no moments be, you know, I think they're happening there. Because like, hey, this is what, maybe a week?
SPEAKER_00About a week.
SPEAKER_03In their time. About a week? Wouldn't I still be locked up for a crime scene?
SPEAKER_00Unless she was murdered right outside the loft or there, but not in the apartment. So that's a good point, too. I mean, I I feel like they pro even if it happened inside the loft, they probably release it a couple of days later. I mean, once they're done collecting evidence, especially people are living there. I guess. Um and and he's a congressman, so they might move faster. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so back to Henry doing the letters. What if they think Henry killed her? And that's why they're all protecting her. Same thing with the Amy story. But with him with Henry That could work.
SPEAKER_00And putting the letters. Well, suppose you know, if that's Craig's kid, he won't have a blood match to Will.
SPEAKER_04Correct.
SPEAKER_00Hmm.
SPEAKER_04Interesting.
SPEAKER_00But now, do they take DNA from Sam? And if it's one of the kids, whether it's Amy or Henry.
SPEAKER_03Not if they if they they will have to actually test it against, like they were testing Wills for the blood.
SPEAKER_00They were testing Wills against the blood.
SPEAKER_03So if they tell the same if it's Henry's blood. But they no, because he did. I said they think it might be him. Like the does.
SPEAKER_00Right, right, right, right. Right. No, I got that. But I'm just saying that it um when the forensic unit finds the blood, they probably at first assume, oh, is this all does this all belong to the victim? I'm just I I don't know for sure. I'm but I'm imagining, right? Okay. Here's said blood. Does it all belong to the victim? They know that some of it is not the victim's because it doesn't match. So they they would have had to have kind of compared and contrasted.
SPEAKER_03Right. They tested Samantha's with the sample. Now you can test, now you can test another thing with the sample that necessarily have anything to do with semanthus. Now mind you, this is 1992, not 2025.
SPEAKER_00This is 2006.
SPEAKER_03Oh, right, 2006. Damn it. Okay, still 2006 is still right, it's still 20 years ago. But I feel like it's still far enough into the that they should cross-sample all the matches.
SPEAKER_00That they would I think that they would pick up on it. I mean, by this time, we already had Maury saying, you know, with 99.97 certainty, you are the father. So Yeah. I think that if there were some allele markers in common, they would have picked it up.
SPEAKER_03I guess so. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Or maybe not alleles markers, but whatever. Okay. I do have a degree in science. I'm just presenting.
SPEAKER_03I used to be smart and then going back on it. Apparently, being smart got me nowhere, so um, I just have to be bossy now.
SPEAKER_00Um, there's a breeze. Oh.
SPEAKER_03I can hear that breeze.
SPEAKER_00It kind of like The blinds.
SPEAKER_03It's not as movie.
SPEAKER_00Um each window is open on either side of the code. And the blinds are down, but that one last blind, it's like and then it stopped right at the perfect time.
SPEAKER_03It's like it was it was added as a scene enhancement. We had to leave that in there.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so those those were my thoughts that finally came to fruition.
SPEAKER_03Okay, and that I just had my one thought. And then obviously I have some like opinions throughout the episode, but the whole, yeah, thank Henry's involved. Or at least it has something to do with it.
SPEAKER_00Now, I'm I'm I'm especially proud of my suicide, though. Yes. Because that would also explain a lot how the gun was used. Like, right, because it was Craig's gun. So naturally Sam would have access to it, and how the group of friends had it afterwards because it was still have been there.
SPEAKER_03I'm really leaning towards the suicide.
SPEAKER_00I feel like that is the twist that I like the suit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm teen suicide right now. Wow, that came out right.
SPEAKER_00But I did watch two episodes of Law and Order yesterday. So, you know, there's that in the plot twist.
SPEAKER_03I am teen. I'm I you know what? I am firmly on that. And but and then if it is a suicide, the Henry still works well with it. Because he didn't say you did it. He said, I know who killed it. Like in a, oh my god, can we both be right? Or I'm thinking more like we're both wrong, but still.
SPEAKER_00Either way, one more hot take. The episode opened, and the music, the song was perfect. Yeah, the song was perfect, but then after that, I was like, wait, the music has been so good, like in these episodes. I mean, they're they're totally on par with the the the sound of the year, like the music that they use. But I was like, meh, after toad toad um the fuck was it? Toad the wet sprocket. It was like meh, meh.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that was the only feeling it that was the only good song, and it kind of but it was such a great song. I kind of forgave the rest of the episode. But the episode was really, really good. Yeah. So great opening song, amazing episode. It kind of dulls out the meh music app throughout the episode. So I'm okay. Because I sang that whole song the whole day. I was like, God darn it. Stuck in my head.
SPEAKER_00The episode opens and it is Thanksgiving 1992. So it is November 26th, 1992. Yes, I did go back and look. I wanted to see if it was one of those Thanksgivings that was my birthday. It wasn't.
SPEAKER_04It wasn't.
SPEAKER_00My birthday is not November 26th. Um they're in the loft, they're getting ready to have Thanksgiving dinner. Craig is like, I got a football game to watch, and Sam is stressing. We see Aaron at the office with the secretary, whose name is Rachel, we know now.
SPEAKER_03Sorry.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03I sent her a text the other night. I was like, oops, I don't know where I got Angel from. My bad.
SPEAKER_00Luckily, I forgot all about that you said Angel. So I was like, who the fuck is oh, okay. Um, and she's at the office and she said, because her broke her boyfriend broke up with her last night. So she'd absolutely love to accept his invitation to dinner at Craig's house.
SPEAKER_03I knew it at this point. I'm like, uh-huh. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Why were you at the office? You knew you knew exactly what Aaron was gonna do, and you were just waiting for that moment.
SPEAKER_03Now she's a skeiser.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. We're crossing cross-promoting our episode. You you know. Will is in Vanessa Will, whoa. I mean maybe maybe not at this moment, but he was. Uh Will is trying to laugh. How much have I drank? Not enough. Keep going. Come over here half dressed. I uh okay. Will is in New York with Vanessa for Thanksgiving. Vanessa's all like, oh, well, they like me. He's like, nope. Just kidding.
SPEAKER_03They're cute together. But what's with the yellow blonde hair this year for him?
SPEAKER_00I did not like his hair.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00But it was very like boy bands. Like, all he needed was like a little frosting tips.
SPEAKER_05And some baggier clothes. But I would say.
SPEAKER_00And he would have been ready for his audition.
SPEAKER_03To be in sync.
SPEAKER_0498 degrees or whatever. Backstreet boy, all of them.
SPEAKER_00All of them. So the six musketeers are reunited at the loft. Jenna is now married to this guy, and his name is Jake Terrence. And I'm like, that sounds way too much like Jack Torrens for me. Well, maybe it was intentional. I think so. Because I think some shit is about to go down with him. Okay, all work and no play makes Jake a very dull boy, and I think he's about to start some shit. Sam is in the bedroom taking some kind of pills. We don't see what though. They're in a prescription bottle, but considering that she is almost a doctor, we know she has access to a wide variety of meds. And as this is 1992, I don't think anything was being locked up. The rules were a little more loosey-goosey at that point. Just we go to the present day where our detective Margarino is having some family problems. He is way too obsessed with this case. And his wife is like, um, dude, you need some help because you're way too obsessed. And he's like, No, I'm not. And she's like, Well, I think you need to go back and remember the first day we met.
SPEAKER_02Boom.
SPEAKER_00Then we go back and remember the first day they met. It is 1992. It is also Thanksgiving. And he is there loading a gun with his little brother, and he says that his plan is to kill Will Malloy because of the fact that Will Malloy killed his dad. And ever since then, their mom has not been the same person. At the loft, well, it's present day. And Craig yells to Henry. Henry turned on the music, but we never see Henry. Henry is in a room with the door closed, and all we hear is music. There's a shadowy figure passing in the hallway, because there's like frosted doors or whatever. And then there's a note slipped under the door, and the note is the same one like Aaron got. It's just typed, and it says, I know who killed her. I thought it was the detective trying to rattle them, but I like your theory better.
SPEAKER_03I thought the detective too initially was something, I think, in the middle of the episode, something I don't know if something happened, something was said, or just my brain started working. And I'm like, oh, Henry. So we need to dissect that. Like, what made my brain click? Or was it just a time in?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, hopefully it'll click back. So, because I want to hear more about that.
SPEAKER_04So do I.
SPEAKER_00In 1992, Carla arrives, and we find out that she's been living back in Bedford. She's been helping her dad out at his store. And she shows Sam a card that she received from Amy and Megan. And it has no, they make a point to say that it has no return address because it's for their safety pre 9-11.
SPEAKER_03Because there's no you can't do no return addresses anymore.
SPEAKER_00Yes, you can. I thought we couldn't do that anymore. What are they gonna do? Who are they gonna send it back to? Who are they gonna send it back to? Alright, so I mean, or you could just put a fake return address. There's always that. You can hypothetically speaking, of course, you could Oh, okay, you're right. I feel like Well, hypothetically speaking, you're right. Go on an app like Zillow and find an address of a house and Anywhere in the country and use that return address. I mean hypothetical speaking, of course. I've never done that. And oh, and also make up a fake name because, you know, fake address, fake name.
SPEAKER_03You know, yeah, a real fake address.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Anywho, we have issues.
SPEAKER_00I do not.
SPEAKER_04We are all going on a list.
SPEAKER_00Um, anyway, so but there was no internet, so they couldn't they couldn't look up fake addresses. Also, um, hello, even if you don't put an address, you still have a postmark. Oh my god, you hear my stomach is growling.
SPEAKER_03There's still I was thinking that too. I was totally thinking that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like, okay, I don't know where you live in, but the postmarks is Oregon. So it's like, well, I'm pretty sure that you're not in Hawaii. I mean, you know.
SPEAKER_03Although, in theory, I could mail, I could put that in an envelope and mail to someone I trust, and they can mail it from there.
SPEAKER_00That is a very good point. Okay. I thought I would do that. No, no, no, never. No, no. Jenna arrives and she is without her husband, Jake, and Aaron arrives with his date, the secretary.
SPEAKER_03The skank. Okay.
SPEAKER_00The skeiser.
SPEAKER_03The skeezer. The hoo-a.
SPEAKER_00No, skank was on her list too, I think.
SPEAKER_03Skank, the hoo-waah. Or the hoo-wa.
SPEAKER_00The hoo-a.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_00If you know, you know. Yeah. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna say the hoo-a the whole episode.
SPEAKER_00The only person who ever really says hoo-a is my mother. I don't like I don't I don't know other people who say that to not like.
SPEAKER_03I mean, still say it. I remember hearing a lot when we're growing up.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, no, I think she still says it.
SPEAKER_03Oh. Well, we're gonna bring it back for this episode.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Let's see how many derogatory terms you could come up for this chick. Like, this is so like such slut shaming, but okay. I mean, okay, listen. She had a lot of fucking balls though, this bitch.
SPEAKER_03Okay, when it comes to slut shaming, there's two- I would have done the same thing. Like there's the there's the person, and I say person, man, woman, who just likes to have sex and does it responsibly, you know. That's not a there's no shame in that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03When you're fucking someone else's spouse intentionally, you need to be shamed to just yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, but but we're we're sh and the only reason I even know this because we are only shaming her. We're not shaming him. Oh, we're gonna get to him. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03We're gonna get to him.
SPEAKER_00But honestly, like she was fucking ballsied to show up.
SPEAKER_03And I think that's another and I think it's her ball, I think it's it's her sense of entitlement and her little brass balls that makes me want to do like smack ahead on the table.
SPEAKER_00But if but if you were in that position and I didn't go. I wouldn't be.
SPEAKER_03You wouldn't go?
SPEAKER_00I wouldn't be I would so fucking go.
SPEAKER_03I would not be in the no, I wouldn't be in that married house. I'm like, no, this just I would. No, I wouldn't.
SPEAKER_00I sure fucking would. Especially after he broke up with my answering machine. But then he said, I tried to it face to face, you weren't listening. So if you thought she was gonna listen to an answering machine, no, not at all. But um like I mean, let's first let's not get into the situation. But then once we're in the situation, if I'm her, I am totally taking you up on your invite and showing up with you to my ex's Thanksgiving. I might make an excuse and leave early. I I don't think I would want to stay the whole time.
SPEAKER_03And play, oh let me help you. I would don't think I would I think it's just everything. She just asks for it.
SPEAKER_00I mean that that's also kind of like because the I mean in this situation it didn't work out so well.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00But but but I kind of think that it's funny because it's like and I'm not I'm not advocating for like, you know, infidelity.
SPEAKER_03This I'm just saying that this is pure entertainment value. I get it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but if if I was her and to see his face as I am helping your wife pull a turkey from the fucking oven, see you shit your pants a little, I might enjoy that.
SPEAKER_03I co-sign that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I co-sign that.
SPEAKER_00Although we all know my plans for after my husband leaves me anyway, so and it does involve a married man. So, you know, there's that. But I don't want to break up his marriage.
SPEAKER_03Like the moment he's itching out of his marriage is when you're leaving him alone. She's like, no.
SPEAKER_04Uh everyone's listening, like, wait, what did I just hear?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I promise it it's it's way better than it sounds, my plan. Well, for me anyway. Just for them. But okay, so yeah. So we find out that even back in 1992, young Detective Marjorino, Ken, was already planning on killing Will. And he's he already knows where the loft is, and he is stalking the loft. And more specifically, he's stalking Will. He sees Will arrive at the loft, and you see him like, oh, my gun is still there. Yeah, your gun is still there. It was in your fucking pocket. Where'd you think? It jumped out, ran away, went to have Thanksgiving dinner with somebody else. Like, it's still there? Yeah, it's still there. So Will is standing outside the loft, he's waiting by himself, and young Ken starts walking on over. And just before he can pull out his gun and shoot Will, Will is saved by the film. Because here comes Vanessa, I got the film, I got the film. Why wouldn't you? She's not from New York. Why wouldn't you just go in a store with her? Why'd you stand outside and wait? Because that wouldn't work.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, unless the store's like right there across the street. I mean, it probably was, but yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00So he keeps on walking because, you know, not now there's a witness. Murder is bad with witnesses. Just a little bit.
SPEAKER_03I mean, depends how you commit it depends how you commit the murder, because you depending on your plan, you may want witnesses.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Also, murder is bad. With or without witnesses. It is? Yeah, it's typically frowned upon.
SPEAKER_03Fine. Um justifiable homicide. That's a thing, you know.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I mean, yeah. I'm still not advocating for murder. Although it was another sad, but you're not advocating for murder on recording. I'm not advocating for murder unless it's by a cheeseburger and a Diet Coke.
SPEAKER_02That sounds good.
SPEAKER_03I don't like Diet Coke.
SPEAKER_00I don't like Diet Coke either. Now, even though we already have our suspicions about Rachel, Sam is clearly annoyed that she is there. And in about five minutes, the show confirms what we already knew. That yeah, Craig has been fucking around with her for the last six months. And five minutes later, we find out why Sam was annoyed, but I'm not gonna tell you yet. In the present day, the detective mentions that Craig is not on the surveillance tape the night of the murder. And the other officer is like, but how could that be? Like if he's the one who killed him. And also, how is it that you were like, it was Will, it was Will, it was Will, and now it's Craig, it's Craig, it's Craig. And he's like, Well, the evidence, I don't know, whatever he said. But and he's like, But how could Craig have gotten away if he's in a wheelchair? And right there, I'm like, Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03Same. But to your point, or to the detective's point, how do you go from zero to one hundred and back again for someone totally different? Like, you are the epitome of a bad cop right now.
SPEAKER_00I know. He's so it's so honestly though, I feel like this is probably a more accurate representation of many investigations because you're not finding the evidence and then making the evidence the evidence fit like um another yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like you're you're you're making the evidence fit your narrative as opposed to the narrative fitting the evidence. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because you've got your sights on a suspect, and now it's changes every day. And so instead of you saying, well, it can't be this guy because the evidence doesn't fit, you're like, no, it has to be this guy, so how do we make the evidence fit? And his wife, you know, when we saw the scene with his wife, she tells him, like, you know, your kid has a play, and you know, where were you last night? And he was like, Oh, I was chasing down a dead end in New Jersey. That dead end in New Jersey was probably Paul because in the last episode he mentions that the guy lived in New Jersey. And we know that Craig and Sam had a huge fight at the reunion. Maybe Craig finally found out who Amy's daddy was. And Sam was like, I can't take this. I've been lying all these years. I don't know. Anyway. Um, but back in 1992, after Ken's missed opportunity because the film got in the way of his murder, he goes into this little like cafe, gets a table, and as he's craning his neck to see the loft to stalk the building, the girl is like, Do you want to trade places? Because I feel like I'm in your way. And I love that because I feel like that is so something that would have rolled out of my mouth. Like, do you want to switch? Because I'm clearly in your way. And he's like, No, no, no, you're fine. And she's like, All right, well, at least come join me. Okay, whoa, stranger. Stranger danger. Okay. He sits at her table, and in a few minutes, I'm gonna be like, what the actual fucking what's the actual fuck?
SPEAKER_03The writing on this leaves a little bit to be desired. And maybe they were just working, and they're like, okay, we have X amount of episodes, we've got to get all this shit out. Let's just skip through the normal shit and just like bypass common sense. But okay. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, because this is gonna turn out worse than like you meeting the guy on the train and going to his house. Like, this story is like, whoa, where are your friends to stop you? Okay, anyway.
SPEAKER_03Um why do you always remember all my insane decisions? Because it's insane. I mean, it wasn't like I went from the tr uh I went from, oh hi, how are you? Here's your let's go to your house the next the same time.
SPEAKER_00This that's why this was conversation was worse.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I'm gonna say this there was conversation, and you know, my goodness.
SPEAKER_00Russell now arrives at the loft and Will answers the door. Uh awkward. Russell is big man. He is like, why is he here? Why is he here? Oh, all of a sudden, you don't like this kid. He was great when he was taking the rap for your kid. But but now that you had to go to jail for something that you actually did, there's no one else to and there's no one else to pay to take the rap. Oh, now now you're mad. Now you want to cry about it? Okay, cry about it. I don't I don't feel bad for you. But Russell is like, blah, blah, blah. I'm gonna go take a walk, and when I come back, he better be gone. All right, we'll we'll see how that works out for you.
SPEAKER_03Like my mother used to say, want in one hand and shiny other.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03You tell me which one fills up faster.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. Now we get to the scene where Rachel is telling Sam, well, she already threatened Will. Uh Will, not Will. Um Craig. She already threatened Craig to be like, oh, how do you think your wife would feel if I told her?
SPEAKER_02You wouldn't.
SPEAKER_00And then she's like, oh, can I help you with anything? And Sam's like, no. She's like, oh, but I feel like you're doing everything. She's like, oh, you want to help me with something? You can you can start by stop sleeping with my husband. It's like, oh. Oh. Okay then. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Well now.
SPEAKER_00So, Secretary, she's booted from Thanksgiving. This is like Survivor Thanksgiving. Oh, the island. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh she her flame is out. No rose. Go packing. Okay. And um, the girls are like supporting Sam, and they're like, oh my god, but why didn't you ever tell me? And and you okay? And you know, doing what girls do. Oh, I forgot. Jake is talking Will is cutting the Thanksgiving turkey. And my God, I have never been hungry for Thanksgiving turkey more than I was watching this episode because that turkey looks so good. It really did look good. And I'm hungry. But he's cutting the turkey, they're making small talk, and Jake comes on to Will, and Will is like, um, cool, but I'm not gay. But you know, like, thanks for knowing. Yeah. So Will tells Jenna, he he goes to tell Jenna about him, but Jenna's like, yeah, I already know. You knew, yeah, we live in the same house. I knew. Like, uh, okay. Craig wants to talk to Sam, and Sam is like, we will talk later. We are not talking now. Meanwhile, Aaron is mad at Craig too, because he's like, My God, he here you are saying, like, yeah, hey, hook up with her, date her. Yeah, all the while you're fucking her. And you didn't even tell, like, not only are you cheating on your wife, you didn't let me in on this secret, you know.
SPEAKER_03But okay, here's the flip side. If he would have did the whole, no, I don't think she's right for you, you know, he and then he finds out he's like, you're trying to steer me up. Like, either way, yeah, there was no tell, not telling, steering, not steering. There was no way it could have gone well. It was a bad decision all the way around. Even fucking with the secretary.
SPEAKER_00Hey, yeah, yeah. Yeah. You should have just kept it in your pants because you knew and especially novel idea. Not only were you married, but you knew before you got involved with her that your one of your best friends was into her.
SPEAKER_03So you're fucked up on both ends. Right. Like you double fucked up. Not just like he is a he's I mean, let's be fair. Let's be honest here. He's great at fucking up. It's not, you know, running stop signs. Yep. He has a push, he has a he has a talent for fucking up.
SPEAKER_05So are we really that surprised?
SPEAKER_00What if we don't see Henry because Henry is incapacitated? Yes.
SPEAKER_03I thought about that too. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Maybe that's really his wheelchair. Okay, no. Okay, I'm getting off topic. All right. But in this uh kerfuffle. Craig. Say it again? Kerfuffle. I love that!
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00Uh now that now Craig and Aaron's business is in jeopardy because Aaron is like, I don't know if I could trust you. Meanwhile, we go across the street to Ken and Ella, who has just finished hearing Ken's whole life story.
SPEAKER_03And his plan. I mean, not his plan.
SPEAKER_00But basically his plan. Because she's already like, don't do something you're gonna regret.
SPEAKER_03She's already doing it. Right.
SPEAKER_00And he's like, do what? She's like, I don't know, but don't do it. Like she already knows.
SPEAKER_03Right. So a complete stranger.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And he's like, so you're gonna go call somebody? She's like, no, I'm gonna go on about my life. And like, you could come too. But I'm like, your bells should be going off. Your alarm should be going off in your head. You just met this man who is admittedly stalking someone that he has held a grudge for for six years now. And you already get the feeling that he's about to do something that he might regret, and you think, I think I'd like to marry that guy.
SPEAKER_03I can fix him.
SPEAKER_00Side note. No, you can't. Can't. If you ever find yourself saying, I can fix him, I can change him, no, you cannot.
SPEAKER_03No, you cannot.
SPEAKER_00Don't bother trying.
SPEAKER_03Unequivocally, the answer is no.
unknownYeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Back at the loft, Will is talking to Sam while Will and Sam are talking, and and Will is just saying all these nice things about Sam and how and all the reasons her and Craig belong together and why Craig is in love with her and blah, blah, blah. But Vanessa overhears. And Vanessa was over.
SPEAKER_03Overhears, she's eavesdropping. Okay, but go ahead.
SPEAKER_00I mean, she's standing in the doorway. I don't know how they didn't see her or feel her presence because she was like three feet away.
SPEAKER_03Right there.
SPEAKER_00But and Vanessa was already nervous about coming because of Sam. You know, she was worried if the friends would like her. She was worried about it being awkward with Sam, which I think is a fair point. I think Will was probably very honest with her over the course of the time. I was going to say that.
SPEAKER_03Like that shows a lot that he was honest about a lot. And I'm not even mad at I'm not mad at the whole relationship with him, Vanessa, or anyone's. Like, I like them together. I like their honesty. I like their I liked everything about them together. And I really think that that should they should have kept them together. But anyway.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But at the same time, Jake wants to go to another Thanksgiving dinner because there's going to be a producer there and other people there that he wants to mingle with and network with. And Jenna's like, these are my friends. This is where we're staying. And she confronts him at this point about hitting on Will. And Jake is like, all right, so how much is it going to cost me? Because I'm sure that I forgot what he called him. He called him a name.
SPEAKER_04And he's like, that loser. It's something. Joker. He called Joker. Joker.
SPEAKER_00He said, because that Joker is going to go right to the tabloids. And he's she's like, that Joker is my friend. And you can leave. He's like, but we have an arrangement. And she's like, I don't even care anymore. Because the arrangement is that he's gay, but Jenna says that they don't want to see like the action stars.
SPEAKER_03Light on their feet.
SPEAKER_00Light on their feet, yeah. So the arrangement is she's his beard. His beard, yeah. And she gets the publicity. And we saw, right? Even when they came into the house, it's like celebrity sighting in the living room. And she's just like, yeah, I I don't care. I'm done. I'm done with the arrangement, all of it.
SPEAKER_03So the second one has been put off the island. That's it. Your torches out. No rose for you.
SPEAKER_00No rose for you. Bye. Will and and Jenna, because when Will tells Jenna, he's surprised that she knows, and Jenna's like, yeah, we all live with lies. And Will is like, taken aback. He asks her, like, what do you mean? Or and and she tells him, You never told Vanessa what you wanted to tell her about Danny's death. So Will takes the opportunity to tell Vanessa, and Vanessa realizes that she says, I know that there was always something that you wanted to tell me, but you're not to blame. And also this isn't working. I look at you the way you look at Sam, and I don't want to be the second option. But I think that their breakup was nice, if that makes sense. sense because I think that they both really care about each other and their breakup came from a place uh from her it came from a place of of good because she realizes that the relationship just might not work but she doesn't want to hurt him and she loves him and she tells him like you know when when you're ready you know when you're ready I might still be here and now Vanessa has extinguished her torch no rose for her we have to remember this for the next week's episode if it comes if we have opportunity this is amazing and all I could say here is I'm thinking this is like the worst Thanksgiving ever. Like even Chandler Bing had better Thanksgiving this was his least favorite holiday. Carla realizes that Vanessa's leaving she slams a tray on the table she gives a friendship about their friendship and then she's like I need to go out for a walk and a pack of cigarettes and I'm like okay so she ain't returning.
SPEAKER_03And Aaron goes when did she stop smoking? That was like the best line for the whole episode. Yeah okay so my little thing about her little rant I get it I get it she's like she's pretty much saying fix your face get it together but let's be real three like three people had their relationship completely implode in hours time what did you expect like what she was the only one who didn't have a relationship to implode. Right what did you expect? Like no one let of the group of six they didn't leave they were still there right you know what I mean did you really want them to like turn that frown upside down for the sake of your Thanksgiving that kind of pissed me off a little bit because ultimately they still was there together. Yeah Aaron was mad at Sam no Aaron was mad at Craig but he didn't leave you know what I mean right they were still there Samantha didn't go into her room and lock the door they were still there. She just popped a couple of pills you know and kept it moving like a big like a grown up um I was joking so but granted her rant got them and they have a sick baby I I really think her rant was a little childish and a little self-serving they needed something to get them back together for the end of the episode.
SPEAKER_00I get it but kind of picks up I've been looking forward to all of this to us being together forward to my husband not cheating on me. But you know what I mean I mean you know it's like if there's no hopes there's no disappointment and I think that Carla Carla has obviously been through a lot not to say that none of the others have but and I think that Carla was just coming from a place of wanting to feel some type of normalcy with her friends. I get that I do and when it didn't happen she just couldn't she lost a ship that was her last straw I get it I understand too and especially that yeah they're they're all still there but when the camera pans around right before she drops the tray they weren't there they were there but they weren't disassociated.
SPEAKER_03But you but they easily could have just walked off and left absolutely no one could have blamed any of them to like you know what fuck this shit I need a moment but um but yeah I I mean like I said they needed something to you know end the scene off on a good note. Yeah in the meantime Russell returns and he's still mad that Will is there but Will stands up to him and then so does Craig so when he said when he was talking about you have this failed business business that's never gonna make any money I'm like oh that didn't age well um because we see what happens yeah um yeah that was kinda I I just thought that was kind of funny in my own little head. I laugh at stupid shit.
SPEAKER_00So Russell leaves because he gives him an ultimatum Russell is like it's either him or me and Craig is like okay dad I'll call you soon ultimatums never go well.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00And it's usually always worse for the person who gives the ultimatum I feel like if you feel like you have to give an ultimatum you already know the answer. So save yourself the heartache and pain not about him per se but you're better off just saying listen if I'm done by the way you're doing it I'm removing myself because it's still gonna be you removed but this one looks better.
SPEAKER_03You have you come to terms with it on your own as opposed to someone kicking you out. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00Save a little face too just a little face. And then Aaron kind of walks back his like he's like I want to rewind and delete what I said we've all been there though um so there they mend their friendship but Craig is still serious about maybe dissolving the business and he tells Aaron to you know because he had told Aaron to make an offer he won't refuse it but Craig is saying that he wants to get into something that he loves and he's good at and apparently that thing will be politics. And didn't his father say you'll never make it in politics too yeah oh yeah never make it in politics and then this is a business that's never going to get off the ground his father's not really good in anything is he no he's not even good at at hiding uh his own like he was good at business but but he wasn't even good at that because he got caught Ella gives Ken her number he puts it in his pocket he sees Will come out of the building because Will decides that Carla's been gone for a while so he wants to look for her. So he goes outside and he starts to make his approach again but his the number falls out of his pocket and Will is like hey I think you dropped something here you go happy Thanksgiving and it's like boom saved again by another woman Ella saved the day for Will a few times she would Vanessa saved him with the film I feel like it's this whole episode is about being saved by women.
SPEAKER_03We it's just what we do even we don't want to we save your asses that's why they hate us yeah they hate us because they need us Sam and Craig are trying to work things out.
SPEAKER_00She feels like he was punishing her because of the baby that she had in London and he promises never to cheat again.
SPEAKER_03Do we believe him I believe that he believed it ooh okay I think at that moment he really I think he really felt that way I think he had heavy intentions of being a better person.
SPEAKER_00I husband I know people cheat but I just feel like why does it always feel like when the guy cheats it's just because he simply thinks that he can like he's that cocky that he can just do it. Not because he might be lacking something at home or but like it's like the opportunity presents and and he's just like Okay. Yeah and and like you you really want to risk everything. And for somebody who's like swears that he was so in love with his wife that he beat up on a church why would you put yourself in that position You only have even been married for like six months at that time well no for a year.
SPEAKER_03And a newborn well a year and a half because a year because he they were married for a year when he when they brought in Rachel into the episode and at this time they the relationship happened for six months ago so they were married for a year and a half cheating oh right right okay you're right I'm sorry you know as far as why people cheat I we can get like a six hour episode we can go on and on and on but I just feel like it always just comes back down to because I get away with it. Because I can because I can but God forbid if my be my my significant other does it oh no I won't abide by that I want to be forgiven but I would never forgive her yeah oh because it's different.
SPEAKER_00But anyway let's not even talk about it because she they were on a break with her granted it was with your best friend let's leave that alone you don't know he doesn't know this he doesn't know he doesn't know we know we know but they were on a break and she were broken up like we were I mean I'm I'm not saying that it was necessarily right because she's still being deceptive but on face value she told you you guys were not together and it was a one time thing I concur but but he speaking of we were on a break I was like what show am I watching did the channel change and and no one told me because we go to an exterior scene and I'm like wait a minute wait a minute um what the fuck okay yeah the faces weren't on the building but this is the exterior shot from Friends okay Grove and Bedford people Grove and Bedford I used to work on Grove Street I'm very familiar with the neighborhood so even though friends wasn't actually shot in New York but the exterior shots were New York I'm thinking we we didn't check but one we know there's a lot of reference not references but a lot of overlap with friends and I just want to know what's a writer like the team did they cross over so Friends was a channel for show I believe I'm talking show was on NBC and this was a box box but form of writers producer show runner somebody you know what I mean well I was just thinking if it was produced in the same studio they use the saying if it was produced in Universal Studios but this is done in this was done in Canada though no yeah but what I mean is that they could have the same stock footage at their at at their disposal for the exterior we did have this conversation like two episodes ago right but that was the exact same I was like oh oh so we're going to Joey's apartment okay wait we're not wait hold on why are we at Ella's house? Like what the fuck are we doing? Okay I'm just like either that or they were really really trying to build upon the momentum because Friends had just ended in 20 in 2004 and this is 2005 so maybe they were trying to just hold on to some of that uh you know fandom and and think like hey if we put little pieces all of our friends fans will be like hey I know maybe I don't know but but I did catch that and I was just like wait a minute I went I even went back and I was like wait a minute did I see what I just saw now if we go back again a third time it won't be there I'd just fuck with you a little bit I feel like so we'll have removed that scene a la lost I feel like everything goes back to lost well there's there's that scene from Willing Grace that I swear I remember and it's no longer there when they after Karen's husband dies remember he she finds out he has the mistress and it's um yeah what the fuck is her name Mammy Rogers um no what's her name Minnie Driver Minnie Driver and they're on the yacht and and Will and um Jack are singing blondie the tide is high yes and Karen falls off the ship yes um I can't think of her name the the maid uh Rosario Rosario and they end up being picked up by a Russian freighter carrying vodka yes but when you watch it on um streaming there's the scene is not there okay this is what I'm gonna do I'm gonna try to find it because I may or may not have access to other means of streaming I'm gonna see if it's on that.
SPEAKER_03Because I do know like legit streaming sometimes isn't the same thing as it was when it was other means of streaming opportunities I'm gonna see do you remember what season okay mental like is this some kind of reverse mandala effect where I remember a scene that wasn't there but I'm the only one who seems to remember No I remember that scene. Yeah so do really do do you think that the world really ended in 2012 and this is uh this is like a parallel universe or then the oh that like the machines took over and we're legit currently being harvested and we just don't know it I would believe it.
SPEAKER_04I I kind of hope that's the case because I can't live in this world that this is what's really happening.
SPEAKER_00Okay oh sorry back to reunion young Ken arrives at the friend's building to bring Ella tacos and she's in apartment 311 why is this so important?
SPEAKER_03I don't know I feel like they they put they highlight the apartment numbers for a reason I feel like you're throwing me back into have a guess but I'll I'll tell you in a second okay and he holds up a bag and it's tacos and he's like well not exactly you know the the the holiday whatever but this is all that I could find.
SPEAKER_00First of all it's New York City even on Thanksgiving you could have found anything I want tacos. Oh but anyway and then she lets him in like you just met this man that day he told you about all these crazy plans he's a stalker he's got a gun in his pocket you know he's probably up to no good and you're just like cool you brought tacos come inside stranger meanwhile the six friends are having a toast to their friendship and in the present day he returns home Detective Marjorino and his wife Ella is sitting there and she is like you missed you missed our kid's play and he's like oh man even though he promised just that morning to be there and she called you would think the call was going to be like a a trigger for him and he's like yeah tell her I'll call her back he didn't take the call so she's there saying um actually because he goes to apolog he wants to go apologize to the kid and she's like yeah she's not there she's at my folks' house which is where I'm going I'm giving you a week get your shit out get your shit out so I think my only logical explanation is to prove that that's the same apartment that they're living in now and why it's okay that she's kicking him out because it was her apartment.
SPEAKER_03Okay. But you know what the funny thing is even if it was in her apartment she had every kick him out. Yeah no I'm not saying it's funny that but it's funny that you have not you but it's funny that that's something that we think of to prove that's okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00When you're not showing up for your marriage you don't get a say well that's what she told him she said when when you're ready to put your family first you know call me we go to the loft where Craig is closing the curtains and then he gets up out of his wheelchair and walks across the floor.
SPEAKER_03Flat twist so he can walk and I was trying to look like okay is he walking unsteady or is he you know getting ready to be like frustrated you know how you first get off the no you're sitting on the toilet for too long and got right but maybe his foot fell asleep but he looked fine. He looked as he was walking it was very Kaiser Solse and the usual suspects.
SPEAKER_00Did you not see that?
SPEAKER_03Did not oh his walk got normal quickly let's leave it at that.
SPEAKER_00And the episode ends there with the revelation that Craig can walk the detective has been stalking them for years for over a decade at this point. I mean not okay I don't want to say stalking them for over a decade but has they think he has been he probably has but I really think he has been yeah which is why I feel like it lends more credibility to the fact that him and Jenna have somehow previously come into contact with each other.
SPEAKER_03Oh at the very least he stalked them so much that he feels like he he can't just like for example just walk into her house. Jenna gives me the impression of being like she no fucks given. Yeah for out of all of them yes yes so the fact that this fucking detective walk in her house she's like I am my face this is typical cop bullshit I can totally see here I stalked these people for so long and I know what they're doing I know them. Yeah but that wouldn't explain why she knew who he was that's I think they all knew because he said she said they already knew she because she he was late so she was expecting the detective to come anyway. So they all like they all knew that this is it was being investigated and she and she actually said you're an hour late or are you always an hour and a half late when you're interviewing so you kind of expect it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah I I still think that this is not the last that we're gonna hear or see from Jake I think it was suspicious that I mean we see how fast he turned in this episode where he's kind of threatening her because you feel like he's gonna use something against Amy Yes but at the same time I thought that last episode and now it's like motive.
SPEAKER_03But I feel like now this like you threaten with Amy I will blow up your whole spot about your sex at this time you know what I mean I feel like it's a not say mutual share destruction but I think he has more to lose in his you know in his mind in his mind. Who knows?
SPEAKER_05As far as the locket goes oh I forgot we all locket watch weren't we there was nothing to watch she never had it on interesting she didn't I I didn't look I didn't look to see if if Aaron had it because I don't think that he has it um I think that it's with Amy I think that that is the most likely I think at this point I just kind of like assumed yeah it's with Amy we're just gonna go with that story.
SPEAKER_03That's canon.
SPEAKER_00We're gonna just think with that but yeah I don't I don't really have anything else. What about you? No I think I'm good I mean this really this episode really did give us a lot a lot of little nuggets I concur. I'm ready to watch the next episode okay so we're gonna like stop recording watch next episode and be back I wish I could I don't have anything else in this episode what about you no I'm good I think we said what we had to say mostly at the beginning of the episode I'll I'll probably have more crazy theories when I sit down to watch the next one and then be like oh what about this? Oh what about that?
SPEAKER_03That is fair. And I have to write them down because otherwise I forget you know what I do that's why I text you I don't expect I don't expect an answer but I'm like okay I know if I say this one of us will remember it come recording time.
SPEAKER_00Did you ever remember what it was that made you think about Henry no I think it just just happened my brain just happened to click while I was watching conscious that you yeah I think yeah I think my like my brain's like oh what about him? Yeah I don't think anything happened to trigger it I just think it yeah you'll remember if there was I don't we'll find out brush your teeth and if you you if you know you know longtime listeners know check out sassinsips.com for more on this series on previous series on us on all of it we remind you not to drink and drive and to always drink responsibly and until next time I'm Lisa and I'm Agnes and we're out of here see you later bye
