Hi and welcome to today's episode of Sassin Sips. Today we're gonna talk about Lost, Season 5, episode something. Namaste. I forgot what number it is.
SPEAKER_00Is it 316? Namaste. Was it 315, 316? That's the I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00One of the lost numbers.
SPEAKER_02Those were not any of the numbers, but okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I don't know. I know three's in there and a one.
SPEAKER_02Well, the episode was 316, but none of those were lost numbers. Well, six, I guess six sixteen, but all right.
SPEAKER_00You had lost, you know, all the lost numbers.
SPEAKER_02Anyhow, I'm Lisa. And I'm Agnes. Today I am drinking. Okay, it's wine, but it's white wine. Oh, yeah, you know, a little Pinot Griege.
SPEAKER_00Stepping out your comfort zone. I love your tumbler.
SPEAKER_02Thank you. Well, you know, it's a byproduct of when people throw a party at your house and they leave a bottle of wine behind.
SPEAKER_00Listen, free wine is the best wine. Yeah. Yep. Wine is like pizza. Even when it's bad, it's still pretty good.
SPEAKER_02That is true.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. What about you?
SPEAKER_00And you okay? So I've been craving soda lately. I don't drink soda, but every sort of out there I'll crave soda. And they had the store brand version of like the grapefruit soda. Like, you know, like uh it's good.
SPEAKER_02It's like I don't like grapefruit really.
SPEAKER_00Okay, then you wouldn't like it. So I feel a little bit of vodka in that bad boy. So I'm like, I'm bubbly and bouncy and coasting.
SPEAKER_02Okay. We'll see where that takes us.
SPEAKER_00Lord have both help us all.
SPEAKER_02Any hot takes from this episode?
SPEAKER_00I need to know are they ever gonna get back together time-wise? That's all I want. Like, I need them to get back, I need them to all be at the same time.
SPEAKER_02Did you like the episode though?
SPEAKER_00I did.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I kind of figured you would because it's it's fun again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and it's not 600 different I like the first couple seasons, I'm still I based the last two seasons, the current one and the last one, on the first three seasons. No, wait, what are we on?
SPEAKER_02No, I know I don't yeah, this is five.
SPEAKER_00Okay, this one make sure. Yeah, um, and these two that anything's better than anything's better than those first three seasons. You what you if you need any proof of how much I love you.
SPEAKER_02Oh, and I think also my computer was protesting this morning. I had a hard time logging in because I think it's uh changed the plywood over at next door. Yeah, that's how I woke up to the sweet sounds of hammers and drills. On Saturday morning? This is what they do at like eight o'clock in the morning.
SPEAKER_00And nobody in the neighborhood has like come to the door with pitchforks.
SPEAKER_02Uh no, I guess not. And I'm like looking out my window and I'm like, oh look, all I see is them taking the plywood off of their deck, and I'm like, oh, are we allowed like to see your deck now?
SPEAKER_00They're probably gonna replace it with new plywood.
SPEAKER_02They did, yes, they did. So I see the son and the mom, and I don't first of all, it's not raining now, but it must it rained, I guess, last night, because everything is wet. And I see him hammering like the planks on the bottom of the deck, you know, like where you walk, and I'm like, what the fuck are you hammering? The plywood is well, okay, I'm trying to explain to people who don't know. It's it's like vertical, you know, to like make the like where the fence of the deck, the edge of the deck, you know, dending, you know, like where you would put your drink down, or or you would lean on to look over, whatever. So they put the plywood up there to make it higher. So like if you did that, if you stood there, you'd have plywood in your face.
SPEAKER_00Because that's everyone wants to go on the deck and look at plywood.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, I listen, I get the the idea that you want privacy, but that is not the way. Um and yeah, then she's out there like wiping down benches because they have like benches built into their deck.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02It's everything is wet. What are you are they gonna paint in the rain? I mean, I know that that that's their preferred time to mow their grass with scissors, but are we painting the deck in the rain?
SPEAKER_00I can't wait until we really kick off and we can some and we can support our stalking podcast. I know your neighbors.
SPEAKER_02They have, wait a minute, and here's what's funny, right? I don't know if you've if you noticed, they have solar lights in the front of their house, like on their lawn, but they're they're like very randomly placed, and they're not all the same, and they're just kind of like randomly placed, whatever. Now they did the same thing in the backyard. Because I I looked out my window one night because I I heard um actually no, I saw I heard a noise and I saw a light go on, and I I didn't know if it was my motion light, so I looked out the window. It wasn't my light, but I could see all the little lights in their yard, and I'm like, why? Just it's all grass in their yard. Like, what are they? There's no rhyme or reason. It's not like on around the fence, around a path. And then I see her trying to mow the old lady trying to mow the lawn, and I'm like, how the hell do you even mow the lawn around these little solar randomly placed solar? But then again, I guess you've got the experience from doing it in your front lawn, so whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's a skill. It's it's a skill.
SPEAKER_02It's a very so if you start hearing like hammering or drilling or whatever, it's them and their dumbass deck.
SPEAKER_00I I mean I went around c at this point.
SPEAKER_02No, I went around closing all the windows to try to, you know, but muffle the sound.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know.
SPEAKER_02We'll see. So anyway, let's let's go to Lost.
SPEAKER_00Let's get lost with Lost.
SPEAKER_02Yes. In 1977, Jack, Kate, and Hurley greet Sawyer with excitement and hugs. When Hurley asks why they're wearing Dharma jumpsuits, Sawyer tells him that they're in He's like, oh, we're in the Dharma initiative. He's like, oh, they came back, and he's like, well, we came back.
SPEAKER_00Not exactly.
SPEAKER_02He's like, um, by the way, it's 1977. Miles calls Jin on the walkie asking where he is, and Jin one warns Sawyer that if he doesn't report in soon, the search party will be sent out. He asks what they should do with the new arrivals. And Jack reveals that more of their fellow survivors, including Sun, were on the same plane. Jin immediately heads to the flame, saying that Rodzinski would know if a plane had landed. Back at the barracks, Juliette asks Miles where Sawyer is. Looking on monitors in the security station, Miles sees Sawyer returning to the house. There, as he's gathering clothes to disguise the new arrivals, Juliette enters and asks him what's going on. He informs her that Jack, Kate, and Hurley have returned and he's trying to figure a way to sneak them into the barracks. She tells him that a sub is scheduled to arrive that day. At the flame, Redzinski is building a model of the swan's geodesic dome. Jin bursts in and begins checking instruments. Redzinski warns him away, saying that only he is allowed to use the instruments. And when Jin asks about a possible plane crash, Redzinski is like, mmm, don't you think I'd know? And maybe possibly. Yeah. He also kind of does want to help. However, when Jin physically threatens him, Radzinski puts out a call to the other stations so that they can report any sightings. Juliet then retrieves the submarine manifest from Amy, who's relaxing with her new baby. Amy mentions that two of the new recruits had dropped out at the last minute. And then Juliet asks about the name of the baby. And that baby is gonna be named Ethan. Do you remember who Ethan is?
SPEAKER_00I remember who Ethan is. Okay. I also remember the building, Rosinski's building, in like the first season. I'm like, please. Just ask me if I remember this. I want to tell her, yes, I remember the building. I remember loosely this, you know. So yeah, I passed the test.
SPEAKER_02Afterwards, Amy asked when Juliet and Jim, you know, aka Sawyer, are gonna have a kid. And Juliet's like, I don't know, timing's gotta be right. Like, ew, mind your own business. Mind your own uterus.
SPEAKER_00Right, stay out of my uterus. I mean, no one else has no one else has been in there. I figured, like, why do you need to be in there?
SPEAKER_02Well, somebody else has been in Juliet's kind of adjacent, uterus adjacent. I mean, I don't know, maybe Soyuz, what he's working with. Maybe he was up in the uterus.
unknownOw.
SPEAKER_00Because you know, no, the funny thing is, you and I find that funny, but I'm sure there's a lot of people that don't get why that's funny.
SPEAKER_02Because you know, well, and they won't be invited.
SPEAKER_00People's personal anatomy goes it goes over their own heads sometimes.
SPEAKER_02I mean, well, damn, but okay.
SPEAKER_00Like they're like, well, why is that so funny? You're right, exactly. That's even funnier.
SPEAKER_02You guys don't know why that's funny because you didn't see what I did.
SPEAKER_00No, I really gotta give me Sawyer.
SPEAKER_02Just think like elephant trunk, kind of okay. At the flame, Radzinski informs Jin that he heard from the looking glass, the last station to report in, no sighting of a plane. He tells Jin to go home, but before they can do anything, an alarm sounds, indicating that a motion sensor has detected a hostile within their perimeter. Jinn races outside and into the tall grass surrounding the flame. He sees someone moving and calls to them to stop. Getting closer, he sees that it's Said. They greet each other happily and Jinn asks about Sun's whereabouts. All Saeed has time to do is tell Jinn that he doesn't know where she is before Radzinski shows up. Jinn is forced to pretend that Said is a hostile and forces him to kneel at gunpoint, warning him that he will be killed if he says another word. The flame is where they found Mikhail. It was like I think Locke, Said, and Kate, if I remember correctly.
SPEAKER_00I remember the episode vaguely, but yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So Said has been there before, so he's probably like, okay, I recognize this place. Yeah. Sawyer drives Jack, Kate, and Hurley to the processing center. Along the way, Sawyer mentions that Daniel Faraday had told him certain theories on what actions are possible or impossible after having traveled through time. But also notes that Faraday is not there anymore. What do you think happened to him?
SPEAKER_00But the way he said it.
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00I didn't take it as he's not physically there. I got a sense that he's not all there.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So like he's like not mentally there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So he went cuckoo.
SPEAKER_00Cuckoo for Coco Puffs. Actually, Cocoa Puffs.
SPEAKER_02Why do people say cuckoo for Coco Puffs? Doesn't that mean that they're cuckoo because they want Coco Puffs? So can't they just be cuckoo? Like cuckoo for time travel, cuckoo for a plane, cuckoo for a submarine. Like, why is it always cuckoo for Coco Puffs?
SPEAKER_00Because that was actually the commercial.
SPEAKER_02No, I know that. And that's why he was cuckoo because he wanted Cocoa Puffs.
SPEAKER_00Right. So now it's just became it just became just like, hey, you're just crazy, period. He's just Cuckoo. I'm crazy. I'm crazy for I I I I know what you mean, but I don't have an answer. So like I don't know.
SPEAKER_02It's the same way. It's just one of those expressions that I do not like because when you think about it, it's just lazy and it doesn't make sense to me.
SPEAKER_00It's cute. Like cuckoo for cocoa puffs. It's just a nice it's like a nice way of saying you're fucking crazy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, cuckoo.
SPEAKER_00You're cuckoo.
SPEAKER_02I saved you a couple of syllables.
SPEAKER_00I think it's the same way how brand names become the name for the item. So cuckoo that that phrase has become synonymous.
SPEAKER_02It just I mean, I like cocoa puffs, but why are we just still giving them free marketing? We're gonna have to come up with like something like Sassin Sips so people can just make it part of like their everyday vernacular.
SPEAKER_00I like that. I know, I know, I know X amount of years later. We're not gonna go into how many years later. Some of you guys don't pull up your phones. I still like where's the beef? I know, I know 80s commercials are iconic in that we still all of those little like jingles and taglines, they were very good. Genius, like marketing mile, what was it, Fifth Avenue? Who does who is the marketing? Advertisement in Manhattan was it Madison Avenue? No, I have no idea. Madison Avenue. Madison Avenue may they earn their dollars. They earn it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Anyway. Um back to the island. Upon arrival at the processing center, Sawyer prepares the group for their induction into the Dharma initiative. Miles arrives and reports to Sawyer that Jin has a problem at the flame. Calling Jin on the walkie, Sawyer discovers that Said has been captured and that Radzinski is, quote, taking care of it. At the processing center, Jack is being inducted by Pierre Chang. After asking him a few questions, he gives Jack his new assignment. I bet you love this.
SPEAKER_00I fucking loved it.
SPEAKER_02Jack is now a workman performing janitorial duties, which his assignment has been based on like an aptitude test.
SPEAKER_00I thought that was amazing.
SPEAKER_02And the funniest bit thing is that honestly, Jack really can't do shit about it. He can't be like, I'm a surgeon.
SPEAKER_00Right. Fucking love it.
SPEAKER_02Kate is questioned by Phil, who becomes suspicious when her name does not appear on the recruit list. Before he grows any more suspicious, Juliet appears with a new list which she claims to have gotten from Amy and which contains Kate's information. Look at Juliet saving Kate's ass.
SPEAKER_00For a second there, before she came to save the day, I thought Juliet was being like petty labelle. Like I was just like, I'm alright. Juliet, just like fuck you.
SPEAKER_02I know, but you know what is even better is that like I feel like this is this is kind of why Juliet is like goals, because she could have been petty and she's like, I'll save your ass and I'll smile about it, and that's it.
SPEAKER_00Well, I fucking demand that you wanted.
SPEAKER_02But like not for nothing though. Let's I mean, re let let's be realistic about this unrealistic show. Okay. It was three years. Did she really expect Sawyer to just not live his life, Juliet to not live her life, for them to just drop shit and be like, I have to wait for Kate?
SPEAKER_00Yes, she did. Even though she and Jack had their relationship, whether it worked or not, they had, you know, they went on with their own.
SPEAKER_02Oh, right, because let's not talk about what she was doing off the island. But I feel like Sawyer is the type of character, guy, whatever. Had him and Kate truly been an item, he probably would have waited.
SPEAKER_00If they were an item, right. Yes, but they were never. I'm so glad they never were to go to work out.
SPEAKER_02I mean they had a fling, you know, here and there. They were just two different people. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00There was and then in some situations there was kind of similar with a impulsiveness.
SPEAKER_02Right, but but he could read Kate, and Kate was never with him.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02Even when she was with him, she wasn't with him. Kate's with Kate. Which is fine if that's whatever, that's that's that's who you are, but then you can't hold you know, you can't be disappointed when it's been three years and he's kind of made a nice life for himself. You know, he's made the best but a weird situation.
SPEAKER_00Weird is the understatement of the century.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_00First century and last century.
SPEAKER_02Meanwhile, at the flame, Sawyer arrives to collect Saeed but discovers that Redzinski is very suspicious. He believes that Saeed might have seen the plans for the Swan. Could you imagine though, if how much of a mindfuck it would have been for Redzinski? Had Sawyer been like, oh, so that's the the the dome for the swan? Where you're gonna do this and that, and you're gonna have the armory, and you're gonna have I mean, could you imagine?
SPEAKER_00Like if your if his life wasn't kind of sort of like on the line, I think he totally should have done that.
SPEAKER_02Right. And Radzinski is is kind of like you could you could see him being like one of those like conspiracy theory guys. Like he's probably the same person who thought that like the 4G was you know cause of COVID. Like, I don't know, like yeah. Oh then this brown man comes walking in and it's like oh my god, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00And this is in the 70s at that, like yeah, when did the Iran what didn't the wasn't 77 when the Iron Man the like I uh Contra?
SPEAKER_02I don't remember. I thought it was the 80s, but I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Like, like the movie, you remember the movie Argo? Argo, yeah, with Ben Affleck. No, okay, so during the hostage situation, Fargo? Not Fargo, Argo, doing the I'm gonna cut a lot of that out. Please do, but okay, the point was like in the set I think it's in the 70s, and you have this brown man coming out of nowhere, the Middle East, and that was the whole point of my thing.
SPEAKER_02Gotcha. Gotcha.
SPEAKER_00So they're like, I'm sure there's other reasons why he's suspicious without them trying to be cancelled.
SPEAKER_02Well, he just looks like the paranoid type.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it was 1979.
SPEAKER_02Oh, what did I say?
SPEAKER_00So two years later. So it was two years after this place, whatever. Okay, so it was 77 and lost. Okay. Good night. End of episode.
SPEAKER_02Um, yeah, so for you listeners out there, there was a whole lot more of that tangent. You can buy me a coffee for editing and save you about 10 minutes.
SPEAKER_00Buy her 10 bottles of wine.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I like that. Alright, ready?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02As the new recruits pose for a group photograph, Sawyer interrupts the ceremony, bringing captive Said to the barracks. Sawyer and Bradzki usher Said into an underground holding cell. That night, Jack goes to see Sawyer and is surprised to find Juliette's house at his house. He's like, Oh, I'm sorry, I think I must have the wrong house. She's like, no. And then I like how she like Opens the door and Sawyer's just sitting there like, yes.
SPEAKER_00The whole Domino, he's like, Yeah, I'm hitting that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we we we shacking up. After a heartfelt greeting, she shows him inside where Sawyer is sitting and reading a book. Jack asks him about Said, and Sawyer informs him that he's thinking of a way to save him. After Jack complains that Sawyer had merely been reading, Sawyer responds that Jack just reacted as a leader instead of thinking things through and blames Jack for the deaths which had occurred under his leadership. Sawyer asserts that he is now the leader and sees Jack out. As Jack walks away, Sawyer exchanges a glance with Kate, who is standing on the porch of a nearby house. This was such a great flip.
SPEAKER_00Loved it. I got perverse pleasure out of the whole thing.
SPEAKER_02And now for nothing, Sawyer con man, you know, ex-con. You say what you want to say, but he commands respect.
SPEAKER_00There's a set there's a for a good con. I think there's a certain skill set that you need to have. He really transcends all jobs. Look at him now. Ben, if in a in a different life, would have been an amazing con man.
SPEAKER_02Ben is a politician through and through.
SPEAKER_00Same thing.
SPEAKER_02I mean, hello.
SPEAKER_00Same thing, hello.
SPEAKER_02Pretty much. Right.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02No, but just Sawyer's demeanor, he's like, listen, I'm gonna figure this out. Just like I figured it out today and saved your ass, huh? Like, right after I hit that chick later on today.
SPEAKER_01No, no, it's not.
SPEAKER_02At the holding cell, a polite young boy delivers a sandwich to Saeed. The boy asks Saeed if he's a hostile, to which Sae Saeed replies, Do you think I am? Because that's one of the things that he had to quote, admit that he was a hostile. So remember, like he had to like identify himself as one. So when when they came upon him, he had to say, like, oh yeah, I'm I'm a hostile, you know. The two exchange names, and the young boy introduces himself as Ben. And honestly, funny? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Right, you know what's kind of funny with the whole hostels and stuff? Why is that and I got I don't know, I might be wrong, but I feel like the host the quote unquote, I say hostels Lucy, were there originally. Isn't it funny how the people who are home chilling, minding their business, next thing you know, they get invaded. Right. And then also they're hostile. Well, sure the fuck they are. It's like it it's Mexico.
SPEAKER_02Here they were, just living their lives, and then here comes Texas, like uh, this is now Texas, and you're invading and like no, this is Mexico.
SPEAKER_00No, we're gonna take it as ours.
SPEAKER_01Um, the Spaniards, Americans, the Native Americans.
SPEAKER_00Spaniards with the South America. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_00The Native Americans were savages, right? But we didn't see them getting on ships and going to your land. We should never have fed them.
SPEAKER_02You and I would not be here now.
SPEAKER_00Uh that's you know what? Oh well.
SPEAKER_02What are you eating? Nothing. No, I'm watching you. I can see you. Is it chocolate?
SPEAKER_00It's a brownie cookie.
SPEAKER_02Stop eating. Because I got this bag of pencils here and I can't eat them. And I got chicken waiting for me.
SPEAKER_00Okay, no more eating.
SPEAKER_02Okay. You're making me sad. Alright. Now we're gonna go to 2007. Just before the crash of Ajira Airways flight 316, the Oceanic Six contemplate their fate. In the cabin, the co-pilot tells Frank that he recognized Hurley as one of the Oceanic Six. Could you he's like, oh, look, one of the Oceanic Six. Too bad he didn't take a better look. He would have been like, oh my god, five of the Oceanic Six.
SPEAKER_00All of them are here, right?
SPEAKER_02He marvels at Hurley's willingness to fly over the South Pacific again. Shortly after, the plane encounters heavy turbulence in the night sky. Frank takes manual control and attempts to correct the course of the plane. There's a flash of light and suddenly they find themselves flying above the clouds in daylight. The plane begins giving them a stall warning. Frank tries to get the plane under control, but as they emerge from the clouds, the mountains of the Hydra Island loom in front of them. Fighting for control of the plane, Frank manages to miss hitting a hill. When the radio is turned on, a broadcast of numbers is heard. As Frank flies over the island, the co-pilot sees what looks like a runway. Frank flies towards it and lands, but cannot stop the plane before the end of the runway. He blacks out and upon waking discovers his co-pilot has been killed, impaled by a tree branch. Whoops. She said whoops.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02I mean whoops.
SPEAKER_00You said I'm the mean one.
SPEAKER_02But well, listen, considering that he had like a shitty ass runway. I think he did pretty damn good.
SPEAKER_00I know. I mean, one casualty. One casualty. I think, I mean, I don't think dude felt it was a good landing. But, you know, big picture. You know every right?
SPEAKER_02If um, if this is supposed to kind of recreate the original, well, we don't even know what happened to the co-pilot, right?
SPEAKER_00Well, Frank would have been eaten by a smoke monster or something.
SPEAKER_02So you know, but but right, but the pilot got killed. So I don't know what happened to the co-pilot on the on the original.
SPEAKER_00I think he ended up looking like that guy, and then the pilot ended up getting killed by the smoke monster.
SPEAKER_02Oh, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right.
SPEAKER_00Because he was talking, I mean he had a couple lines before.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Tasty tasty. I never won't hear that word tasty again.
SPEAKER_02Tasty.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. Did I tell you my my my angst against tasty now?
SPEAKER_02You did, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02But I forgot when I said it. When you said I was like, oh yeah, whoops.
SPEAKER_00I don't remember if I told you or not. Okay. Yeah. So um Frank survives.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. In the plane's cabin, Caesar checks on Alana, who has passed out. He wakes her and apprises her of the crash. After noting Saeed is gone, she gets up with Caesar's help. Frank then emerges from the cockp Frank then emerges from the cockpit to check on the passengers. Sun calls to him and he goes to help her, asking where the other Oceanic Six members are. Ben suddenly appears and states they're gone. As Sun is staring out to the sea, Ilana approaches and inquires if she lost someone in the plane crash. She replies that she was traveling alone. Frank then calls everyone together and informs them that the radio is not working, but their best plan is to simply wait for rescue. At this point, Caesar asks where they are and expresses skepticism at Frank's claim that the island was not on the maps. Caesar notes that there are buildings nearby and another island visible across the water. On hearing this, Ben, who had been sitting nearby, takes off into the jungle. Sun follows him and when she catches him, Ben explains that he's heading back to the main island and invites Sun to come with him. He admits to Sun that he doesn't know where Jin is, but the main island is the logical place to start looking. He convinces Sun to come with him. At this point, Frank emerges from the jungle and warns Sun not to trust Ben. He's also like, um, do you not remember the freighter full of people to kill him?
SPEAKER_00Kill this man is the reason.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm. She argues that she has to, and the two of them follow Ben to where a trio of outriggers had been hidden. As Ben talks to Frank, Son sneaks up behind him and knocks him out with an oar. Again, Sun is a badass. If Son and Juliet got together.
SPEAKER_00Oh, they can take oh, they can like the others wouldn't be an issue. Dahmer initiative wouldn't be an issue. They would have both those motherfuckers on their knees. Figatively and literally, probably.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow, and then you'd have oh, and then you'd have a guy like Sawyer who would just sit back and be like, I fucking love this.
SPEAKER_00Poppy his figuratively popcorn.
SPEAKER_02And Jack would just be like, This will never do.
SPEAKER_00Right. Because God forbids a female or someone other than him makes a you know.
SPEAKER_02Said would love it too.
SPEAKER_00Yes, he will.
SPEAKER_02Although Saeed, Sawyer would be like, Alright, I'm here. Just let me know what you need me to do, and I got you. Said would probably be like, well, maybe you should try, like, we'll we'll let you do it your way, but but maybe we should try this way. And Jack would just be totally opposed to it.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Because God forbid.
SPEAKER_02And Locke would just be like, but do you believe that the island is magic? Oh my gosh. Actually, this is fun. Like, we should just put these characters in different situations. And Kate would be like, Why can't I come? No, Kate. We didn't invite you. Kate would show up anyway. She'd be like, but I tracked you here.
SPEAKER_00I want to be down.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm. And then Michael would just run by screaming for Walt. Oh my god, wait. I was watching ER with Amaris, and he was in an episode, and he brought his son in. His son was sick. And he kept saying, You gotta take care of my boy. My boy.
SPEAKER_00This is how he got the role. How come about being a typecast?
SPEAKER_02This is exactly the producers of Lost were like, we need him, and we just need him to be like, my boy. My boy. Where is Jamar? Oh. Um. Okay. Frank and Sun arrive at the dock at night. Walking along the dock, they see debris scattered about and hear rustling in the bushes as they approach the barracks from the subdock. Frank asks, what made that noise? And Sun says, probably an animal.
unknownHope.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you know, don't know what species of animal, what Yeah. Do we know if it's you know it might be a dinosaur?
SPEAKER_02Polar bear, human.
SPEAKER_00Polar bear. Those are vicious motherfuckers.
SPEAKER_02Arriving at the processing center, they find the place disheveled and apparently deserted. They hear the whispers, then a light goes on inside a building next to the processing center. A door opens and a silhouetted figure greets them. He identifies himself as Christian. And when Sun asks about her husband, he tells them to follow him. Heading into the center, Christian locates a picture from 1977 on the wall. And when he shows it to Frank and Son, they see their friends in a recruiting photo from the Dharma Initiative. Christian says, I'm sorry, but you have a bit of a journey ahead of you.
SPEAKER_00I am so glad because my angst was like, are they ever gonna find out that they were different decades? Like, I don't need them to be wandering around the island looking for one another for the next two seasons.
SPEAKER_02So for me, the beginning of the show, I know you are not much of a fan. I like the mystery, I like the questions, I love that. I like I like to let it kind of ruminate in my brain. However, I will say that that's kind of also part of the fun of seasons like four through six, is that while we had all of that unknowing and what the fuck is going on from one through three, in four through six, we get our answer. We still get the questions, but we got our answers a lot faster.
SPEAKER_00And actually, do they even I don't remember any of the questions I had from season one through three. I don't even know if they even answered any of those questions, and there was like 600 questions each episode, and they were different from the episode from before. So you're like, I I can't like none of it, it just nothing was falling into place. Yeah, so it was very frustrating. This is actually fun to watch now, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I I like season five, you know, season four had a lot of action, season five has a lot of like once you figure out what's going on, then you you see what the dilemma is, right? Because the dilemma is that they're in different time periods, they gotta get back to the island, they gotta get out of these different time periods, they gotta figure out how are they gonna reunite.
SPEAKER_00And I have a couple of questions. Okay, okay, so if having the plane, I don't know, go through this electromagnetic and you know, get no crash, whatever, reset the island, and it's based on ley lines and egg whatever. Technically speaking, why did they have to be on the plane? Couldn't just be a like the plane was going through that area anyway. So why didn't they why couldn't the plane just go do their normal flight through that particular time, do that particular and reset? Why did they have to be on the plane? Well, they had to be on the plane in order to get back to the island, but they had to get back on the island to save the island. That's why they went back to save the island, to save their friends from but they didn't go back because they want to go back per se. So I'm like, if that was it, if the it was just a matter of a plane hitting that spot at that time, it was gonna hit it regardless, whether they're on it anyway. That's what, and I think I know why. Okay, which is back to remember we're making fun of how they were dressing, like, hello, you're going to be making silly face. You're gonna be on this island, you're going back to the island to be stranded while you were in a suit, while you dressed up, Jack. Even son, like what was with the like this is not 1985 anymore. We don't get dressed up to go on planes, but then I thought, because the lady said they had to recreate what they were doing. So Jack was in a suit, she was kind of like business, she was in her dressy casual thing.
SPEAKER_02So maybe I never considered that.
SPEAKER_00Really? You could be right, but I still don't know why they had to be on the plane if the plane to reset if the plane was gonna hit there.
SPEAKER_02But speaking of planes, remember in the last episode that what?
SPEAKER_00No, okay, you're speaking of planes, and there was like silence.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I had a cough.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02But speaking of planes, remember the last time we were like, oh, the the plane is there in the runway, and remember they were building the runway? And you were like, wait, what? But now does that make a little bit more sense because the plane didn't land in 1977?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02So it makes sense now.
SPEAKER_00It makes sense now. Okay, because it was I'm like, I it the math, math, math thing. The math didn't math because they didn't land in 77. I'm like, but what huh? Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Alright, so some trivial.
SPEAKER_00But why were they but why were they even building a runway? Who built the runway? Who gave them directions to build the runway that they know was gonna happen? Next time on Soap. Do you remember that TV show?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, maybe they built the runway because they knew Ajiro was gonna have to land on it.
SPEAKER_00Right. Maybe, possibly.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. And maybe I do know. Maybe I'm just not telling you.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna cut this conversation anyway, so I know.
SPEAKER_02Alright, so let's do like some trivia, some notes, some stuff. This is the first time Pierre Chang has met any of the original survivors on screen.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I was wondering, because he's looking at these people. I'm like, have you ever met them? Like, it was like okay. Because he's looking with the mouth, his motha jaw like, what the fuck? I'm like, how do you know them? My head, I'm like, Yeah.
SPEAKER_02This is the first episode this season in which Terry O'Quinn does not appear.
SPEAKER_00Unacceptable.
SPEAKER_02Jorge Garcia's real life ex-girlfriend, Bethany James, Lee Shady, appears as an unnamed red shirt survivor of the of the flight 316. Oh, cool. Said meets young Ben. Sawyer and Hurley are reconnected. Remember, they had like that that friendship growing before the whole Oceanic Six split.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02And he was like, Kong. He was like, Oh, I actually missed that. Kate Hurley and later Saeed unquestioningly accept Sawyer's leadership. However, Jack questions it twice.
SPEAKER_00Dude, you've been off this island for three years. Back the fuck up.
SPEAKER_02I know. Some cultural references. Ride Captain Ride. This song by the band Blue's Image was played at the processing center. Significant lyrics include Ride Captain Ride upon your mystery ship. Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip. On your way to a world that others might have missed.
SPEAKER_00Well, everyone was smoking and doing mushrooms then, so it kind of very funny.
SPEAKER_02Today on the um in the flame, one of the televisions was playing the Muppet show. Fucking love the Muppets. Muppets. Oh. Georgia Bulldogs. Sawyer gives Hurley a University of Georgia sweatshirt featuring this football team. Josh Holloway briefly attended the University of Georgia.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. I was wondering what where is this going, but okay.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm. So there's some reversals of character relationships, right? Said is now in captivity and he's visited by Ben. He claims to be a hostile when he's not, and remember, Ben claimed that he wasn't, but he was. In Confidence Man, Said interrogated a tied-up Sawyer, and here their positions are reversed. Sawyer is now the leader whose actions are questioned by Jack. Kate and Juliet are again in competition for the same man. However, previously it was Jack, now it's Sawyer, but Juliet has the upper hand in the relationship while Kate is looking in from the outside. In Not in Portland, Ethan assisted Juliet when she came to the island. In La Flore, Juliette assisted Amy during labor that brought her baby, now revealed as Ethan, into the island. Into the world, period. Jack, who is a successful spinal surgeon, is assigned janitorial work allegedly based on aptitude. You think Sawyer was like, nah, make his ass a janitor?
SPEAKER_00Um, okay, so I think it's kind of Of what did Hurley get? They didn't say what Hurley was, right? No. No. I kind of I don't know. I feel like so. Juliet was in charge of making sure you know it was covered that they they had a cup, they had um covers. I don't know. I I feel like it was a okay, these two people didn't come in, fine, they could replace these two random people. I'm pretty sure it was just random.
SPEAKER_02If I had to guess, I would just guess that whoever the people who were who were supposed to be, they probably just took those jobs.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I'm pretty yeah, that's what I was like, it was completely random, but I it's just like karma. The universe works in mysterious, wonderful ways at times.
SPEAKER_02So to protect those on the island, the Oceanic Six were forced to live a lie. Once they returned, now they're forced to live a lie again.
SPEAKER_00So I still need to know what the fuck happened for these people to for these people to leave their children behind. I am still a little mystified. I have a feeling once I find out their answer, I'm being like, yeah, that was stupid.
SPEAKER_02So Frank, after the plane crash, Frank attempts to take on the leadership position amongst those survivors, but his leadership is challenged by Caesar, who seems to replace him. Frank is probably like, fuck this shit. Like he's like, I'm going with son, like pretty much have it.
SPEAKER_00Because I f because I like normally you I feel like provided the pilot is a complete moron, that's who people would go to.
SPEAKER_02Right. And Frank, Frank is not a complete moron.
SPEAKER_00No, Frank exudes confidence.
SPEAKER_02But I think also one of the one of the things about Frank is that Frank also knows when to hold him and when to fold him.
SPEAKER_00Right. And he kind of knows like this isn't a battle I need to really argue with because there's bigger shit happening right now. So you don't know what you want it.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I like I would have taken the job, but if you want the job, it's yours. I got other shit to do. Right.
SPEAKER_00I really think that's but uh so Caesar's like I from the moment he popped in the screen, like three episodes four, whatever. I'm like, oh, he's gonna be a regular now because there's no and you're like, what makes you say that? I'm like, oh please. Um I was just asking. Yeah, okay. He I'm like, he's a new Jack.
SPEAKER_02Like he is the new Jack, right? He's the Jack 2.0. And why is this? And I'm gonna do okay, settle. Come your simma, Simma. Sim, Simma. Who gonna say Sim Abby? Simma down, Simma down. Okay, she's dancing.
SPEAKER_00Okay, if you want to call it that. I mean, I did not get the dancing black jeans, sorry. Okay, I'm done with thoughts of lost episode Namaste.
SPEAKER_02Namaste. This episode is just about, you know, like that's it for this episode. The next one is called He's Our You.
SPEAKER_00Basically, what we've been saying, like, he's our you, like he's like Jack 2.0 or whatever.
SPEAKER_02Like Do you think that Kate is actually gonna get in between Sawyer and Juliet's relationship?
SPEAKER_00I think she's going to try innocently.
SPEAKER_02Is that truly nothing? Do you think that Jack is gonna get in between Sawyer and Juliet's relationship?
SPEAKER_00He's gonna try to get in between any, he's gonna get in between everything. He wants to get, he wants to be a part of anything and everything. Dude, you're a pill popper, you're a drug addict.
SPEAKER_02What do you think Hurley's job is?
SPEAKER_00He's probably a doctor. A psychiatrist. At that, you know, he probably would make a good psychiatrist. He would make an excellent one. Um, he's I bet he's some kind of fucking scientist. I think I'm a piss on myself. But yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, I was gonna ask you something else. Fuck. Damn it. Oh, how do you think how do you think, or do you think?
SPEAKER_00I don't think at all.
SPEAKER_02That son, you know, like like how are they gonna rectify the time difference?
SPEAKER_00No idea, but I'm sure magical dead Jack Daddy was gonna figure it out.
SPEAKER_02Magical dead Jack Daddy. Yeah, Jack's magical dead daddy.
SPEAKER_00All right, am I wrong now? I mean, and then somehow we gotta get Locke on board. We gotta get Locke, we gotta get 19, what, 2000, what 2016, 20, whatever year it is.
SPEAKER_022016, 20, 2007, and 1977.
SPEAKER_002007, what I get 26, Lord have mercy. Um present day. We're gonna get the present day people back all the way to 77 and get them together and end the series. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02So, do you think that if they do come together in the same year, that it's going to be present day or Dharma Day?
SPEAKER_00I think Dharma Day.
SPEAKER_02Interesting.
SPEAKER_00I don't know why. Dharma Day. And I need to know what happened to Mr. Faraday.
SPEAKER_02His son will be like head of um security. Right.
SPEAKER_00But isn't Jack, I mean, isn't Lefleur head of security?
SPEAKER_02I know. He'll be she'll be like his right hand, right?
SPEAKER_00Like the enforcer.
SPEAKER_02She will be the enforcer, right?
SPEAKER_00So she's like move over, Jin. And then the guy, the dark-haired guy, the little like weasel-looking guy, and every Radzinski the one who was building the dome? No, the other one.
SPEAKER_02I don't know.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_00He is the um the one that was at the processing. Oh the one yeah, and every character he plays on every show, he plays that same type of like smug yeah. God, like I think he's an amazing actor, but every time I see him on the screen, I'm like, oh, he's gonna be a pain in the ass cuss. He's gonna be a pain-ass cuss. He's gonna be a pain-ass character. Like, I already know. He's gonna be that character you just want to like punch the face.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, all right. Next episode coming soon.
SPEAKER_01Next time on soap, next time on Sassin's hips, will they ever get out of the Dharma initiative? No, I don't know. Will these two ever stop drinking? Will these two ever come back together in the same year?
SPEAKER_00Will these two ever not go on a tangent?
SPEAKER_02Probably not.
SPEAKER_00Answers and more. Um next episode of soap. I just love that show. I think I'm gonna go try to find a stream somewhere.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I've never actually like watched it, watched it.
SPEAKER_00I watched it, watched it. I mean, I was young and I didn't get it, but I remember it if that makes sense.
